We all have them. Tough days. We know we should pray, but we can’t seem to think of what to pray. We just want peace.
Next time you’re in that place, try this four-word prayer: “I love You, God.”
Watch what happens.
Saying those words changes you inside. Reminds you of the truth of who God is and His relationship to you.
Even if you don’t feel particularly loving in that moment, speaking those words starts to work on your heart. Dispelling the lies. Rekindling your inner joy.

You might not feel an immediate, outward change. But something will shift inside. You’ll have more inner fortitude to make it through the challenges of that tough day.
Your spirit recognizes your connection with God, no matter what your mind is going through. When you speak those four words, you start to come back into alignment with who God is and who He has created you to be.
Try it right now: “I love You, God.” Whether it’s a tough day or an easy day, those are words we can say every day.
Remember He loves you too.
When you feel able, read Psalm 42 all the way through, prayerfully. That psalm is an expression of what happens when you reach out to God on a tough day with the words, “I love You, God.”
