Have you ever thought about someone you haven’t seen in a long time? You were going about your day, and their face popped into your mind for no apparent reason? Maybe the Lord is prompting you to pray for that person.
I received a phone call this week from someone who is going through a hard time. She didn’t call to tell me about her struggles. She said I was on her mind and asked how I was doing.
Turns out the day she called was a rough day. I was in physical and emotional pain. I almost didn’t call her back that day because it felt like too much to talk to someone.
But I’m glad I called, not only because I could pray for her difficult situation, but also because that’s how I learned God had prompted prayer for me on a hard day.

In that situation, she had wanted to catch up with me anyway. But a prompt for prayer doesn’t mean you have to call, unless the Lord prompts you to call. It may be just as simple as saying, “Lord, thank You for bringing this person to mind. I invite You to help them with whatever they are facing today.”
You have no idea how much that simple prayer might change someone’s day. Hearing that the Lord has prompted prayer for me sure changed my day for the better. I was feeling overwhelmed, like everything was too much. And God was saying, “I’ve got you.”
It reminds me of a fellow student who was in a prayer class with me years ago. He was in a dangerous line of work. He said he appreciated when someone simply prayed, “Lord, let him have a good day.” That whole year, I prayed that for him every day. Maybe you know someone you’d like to say that simple prayer for today. It’ll bless them and lift your spirit too.
Lord, thank You for loving us and always caring for us. We’re grateful when You prompt prayer on our behalf. Help us to be aware when you prompt us to pray for others. I pray right now that the people on my heart will feel Your loving presence today. In Jesus’ name. Amen
