Reflection
My Yorkie puppy got hold of a stick and didn’t want to let it go. I could have let him sit there, gnawing on that stick, but I had something much better planned for him. I was going to take him to see his doodle friend at a nearby farm. Not knowing my plan, he clung to that stick and didn’t want to move.

It reminded me of how I can behave toward God. He may be prompting me in a new direction, and I stubbornly cling to my old ways. I don’t want to let go of what has worked for me. But if God is nudging me, that means He has something so much better in store for me.
Finally, I picked up my puppy and asked him to drop the stick. He fought me on it, but gravity won. I brought him to his doodle friend’s house, and of course he was overjoyed. After running around in excited greeting, they sat and played together. It was a much better day than what my puppy had planned.

Prayer
God, thank You that You want only Your best for us. Forgive us when we cling to what has seemed good and ignore Your prompting that will bring Your best. Help us to be open to what You have in store for us. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Thought for the Day
