Reflection
I was getting ready to take my puppy for an outing. We were going to visit a pup friend at a farm where he loves to run and play.
As I picked him up to head out on our adventure, he snuggled at my shoulder. I sat with him, and he just stayed at my shoulder, completely content.
I was so surprised. I knew all the fun things waiting for him. But his choice was just to sit quietly with me.
I thought about how I have that same choice with God. He has fun adventures planned, for sure, and He delights in them.
But how often do I make the choice just to sit quietly with Him and put off all other options for later?
Seems to me I can learn from my puppy and take time this week to sit quietly with God.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for giving us so many adventures in life, fun activities we can explore with You. But we also know that whenever we want, we can sit at Your shoulder and enjoy a quiet time with You. Help us remember to make that choice often. In Jesus’ name. Amen
