Reflection
When I lived in the busy city, I noticed a newspaper tie lying on the crowded sidewalk. It was just the sort of thing I would trip over, so I focused on it, making sure I could see it and would not get tangled up. Next thing I knew, my foot was right in the middle, and I was going down.
What happened? Well, instead of focusing my attention on the clearest path, I focused right where I didn’t want to go. And ended up there.

A friend of mine often talks about how our relationship with God requires focus on His path. If we focus on God, we’ll end following Him. If we focus instead on where we don’t want to go, we’ll end up exactly there.
The Apostle Paul knew this. That’s why he tells us where to keep our focus: on the things of God.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for reminding us not to focus where we don’t want to go. Yours is the path we want to follow. Help us focus on You. In Jesus’ name. Amen
