Bible Verse
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” — Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
Reflection
My Yorkie puppy loves sticks. He’s not supposed to chew on them because they could splinter. Try telling him that.
When he sees a stick in his path, he picks it up and carries it till he finds a better stick. He looks so pleased to be toting that stick.
I’ve tried convincing him to let go of a stick in exchange for a treat. Sometimes it works; sometimes he digs in his heels.
As I see him stubbornly holding onto a tasteless stick instead of accepting a much more delicious and nourishing treat, I’m reminded of how many times I cling to my own way instead of receiving something much better God wants to give me.

As my puppy has shown me, I can’t receive something better from God if I won’t let go of the tasteless stick I’m clutching. I can’t receive His way if I cling to my way.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for teaching me a valuable lesson through my puppy. Help me remember to let go of those tasteless sticks I cling to. Help me open my heart instead to receive Your goodness, wisdom, and direction. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Thought for the Day
Are you holding onto something that’s just “okay” instead of receiving God’s best?
