God’s Beauty in Our Path

I have a friend who walks her dog through a big field every morning, and God often puts little heart-shaped leaves in her path. He leaves those love notes to encourage her day. But she has to be fully present and paying attention to see them.

God leaves love notes in our path.

Today, I was walking my dog in a different part of the yard, where we don’t walk very often. I like to vary his route to make it more interesting for him. But this part of the yard is harder to walk in (rocky, muddy, on an incline), so we don’t often include it in our walk.

As we started walking down the hill, I saw a tiny purple flower in the otherwise brown landscape. Even though the flower was small, the beauty of the color caught my attention.

I wanted to stop and take a picture, but my dog was headed in a different direction. I figured I’d get a picture on the way back. In a far corner of the yard, I saw another little flower. Those were the only two I could see around there.

On the way back, I had to really slow down and focus on the ground to find that first flower. God loves it when we press in like that to see things He wants to show us.

Finally, I found it again and thanked Him for blessing my day.

God created this tiny beauty.

Although I felt that He wanted me to see that flower and be blessed by His creativity, think about how many amazing things He creates that few people see. Like wildflowers in the middle of a meadow off the beaten path. Or those magnificent creatures at the bottom of the sea that few people, if any, will ever see. Or colorful warbling birds in the highest canopies of rainforest trees.

He creates those beautiful living things because creating beauty is what He does. He sees and enjoys every one of them. Then He blesses us by putting something beautiful in our path, maybe just for us in that moment.

Be open to the beauty God puts in your path today. He intends those blessings for you. Let it remind you of how magnificent our creative God is. And how much He wants to share your day with you.
