God Is Our Safe Place

Bible Verse

“The LORD is a mighty tower where his people can run for safety—”Proverbs 18:10 CEV

Reflection

During his first months, my puppy has been tethered when moving around inside my home. Yesterday, I decided to let him enjoy some free-roaming time in the living room with no tether. I still monitored him closely but wanted to give him the sense of a little more freedom to explore.

When I sent photos to a friend, she noticed how the puppy still kept his gaze on me as he moved around the room, always checking to be sure I was within range.

She mentioned how I created a safe space for the puppy to explore. More importantly, the puppy felt free to explore in that space because he sees me as his safe place.

Isn’t that exactly what God does for us? He has created a safe space for us to explore and live in freedom because He is ultimately our safe place. And He is with us all the time, no matter where we are.

How wonderful! Our safe place in God is always with us. That’s a comforting thought, and a great reminder to keep our gaze on Him.

Prayer

Thank You, God, for being our safe place, today and every day. We get to enjoy our life and our freedom because You make it safe for us to live in You. As we explore the wonderful things You set out for us, help us keep our gaze on You. In Jesus’ name. Amen
