Bible Verse
“I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” — Psalm 91:2 NIV
Reflection
Much of my life right now is focused on puppyhood. I have a five-month-old Yorkie puppy that needs a lot of attention. I feel like the Lord keeps teaching me lessons and giving me reminders through things I encounter with the puppy. The Lord knows how to get my attention.
My puppy and I have been working on his place command. There’s a dog bed on the floor that he is learning to return to when I say the word place. He gets extra special treats for this command. He will often return to the place, expecting a treat, even when I don’t say the word. He’s very clever.

Through place training, he is learning he has somewhere safe to go when he gets too excited—from a visitor, a loud noise, or his own zoomies.
This reminds me of how I need to return to God as my safe place whenever I get the zoomies or feel that my peace is disturbed. Instead of getting drawn, spinning, into the upheaval, I need to step immediately into my safe place: God’s presence and peace. There, He and I will sort through whatever has caused the disturbance.

Ideally, I should stay in His peace all the time. But that doesn’t always happen in reality. Upsets do happen. As long as I remember to return immediately to His peace, He can help me work through those times.
God is our safe place. And we don’t need treats to encourage us. God’s presence is the biggest treat of all.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for reminding us that You are our safe place. Your presence is constant and steadfast. Help us to abide in You, always. When we step out of peace and get tangled up in chaos, help us to return to Your presence and peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Thought for the Day
When things go sideways, remember to return to your safe place: God’s presence and peace.
