What does it mean to be crucified with Christ?
It means that my life ends, right? Life as I once knew it? Is that a good thing?
Let’s take a look.
When I’m crucified with Christ, what really comes to an end?
Selfishness … living for myself instead of living for the one who made me
Pride … thinking I know everything
Fear … worrying what people will think of me
Myopia … chasing after a pipe dream; missing God’s bountiful dreams-come-true
Exhaustion … trying to do it all myself
Sickness … He beat that at the Cross; by His stripes I am healed
Death … how’s that for irony; if I die with Christ, I get to live forever
I have a feeling this list could go on.
It doesn’t need to.
I’m convinced.
How about you?
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” — Galatians 2:20 (RSV)
